Alipore zoo was opened in 1876 and it is one of the oldest zoo in India. The zoo is spread over 46.5 acres of land and one of the most popular tourist attraction in kolkata. It was the first zoo in the world to breed white tigers and the common Reticulated Giraffe.
Timings
All days 9 am to 5 pm except thursday the zoo is closed
Entry Fees
Rs. 20 for the zoo visit and Rs. 5 for the aquarium
Attractions
The major attraction of the zoo is the Royal Bengal Tiger and various different attraction includes African Lion, Jaguar, Hippopotamus, Emu, Zebra. The zoo has the best collection of birds like Touracos and Hornbills and also has Moluccan cockatoo, Lesser Whistling Teal, Myna, Love Bird.
