For Vidya Balan success did not come that easy. For her it was a struggle even to begin. At one point in time everything she touched just stopped or for some undisclosed reasons her character was snipped. However courage ebbed her on through the turmoil. With her struggle she single has defined female lead roles in the industry. Everything she touches today seems to turn gold and she is one of the sorts after actress. With bold and daring choices the actress has created her destiny beyond measure.
Vidya Balan Early Life- Vidya Balan was born on the 1st of January,1978 to PR Balan, who is currently the chairperson of ETC and homemaker Saraswati Balan. The actress was born in family where there is confluence of both Tamil and Malayalam as is the case with families in the Palakkad belt. The family later on relocated to Chembur, Mumbai. She attended the St. Anthony’s Girls High School in Chembur and then graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the prestigious St. Xavier College.
Following her graduation she pursued a Masters Degree in Sociology from Mumbai Universty. From Her childhood itself she had a desire to act in films and she considered Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil as her inspiration for the same. At the age of 16 she auditioned for the role of Ekta Kapoor sitcom Hum Paanch where she starred in the second season in the role of Radhika.
Vidya Balan Film Career- While pursuing her masters in Sociology the actor had be considered on the basis on an audition for her role opposite Mohanlal in the film Chakram. However the film never took off because of production difficulties. She was also considered for the Tamil Film Run (2002) and even completed one scheduled however for undisclosed reason she was let down. She was also considered for a role in the movie Mansellam (2003) however for undisclosed reason again she was replaced with Trisha Krishnan. With her film career refusing to take off the actress started in series of advertisement for various roles. She however got her first breakthrough role as an actress in the Bengali Film Bhalo Theko(2003).
However the film took about three year to complete. However she still wanted to make a mark for herself in the industry and Vidhu Vinod Chopra approached her for role in Parineeta. The actress had to undergo as many as 17 make test and 40 Screen tests before getting the lead role in the movie. The musical was critical and commercial hit. In the same year the producer who had rejected her as an actress approached her to play a role in Kamal Hassan magnum opus Dashavatharam which she rejected. This role was later offered to Asin. From then on Vidya Balan went to deliver versatile performances at the box office. Among these include Lage RAho Munnabhai (2007) where she essayed the role of an RJ to perfection. Then she starred in the movie Guru where she played a paraplegic. Salaam- E- Ishq was acclaimed critically but was a commercial failure.
Eeklavya: The royal Guard garnered critical acclaim but was a dud in terms of raking collection at the box office. Heyy Baby did not do that well and Balan character received negative responses from critics as well. Her potryal of psychologically tormented women in Priyadarshan Bhool Bhulayia was praised by critics. Her films Halla Bol and Kismat Konnection received mixed responses in the box office. However from 2008 onwards she starred in role that not only bagged her appraisal but her films were a hits at the collections as well. It started off with Paa that saw her play a single mother with a child suffering from a rare congenital disorder. Her female fatale role in Ishqiya, was applauded by both critics and audience alike.
Next she went on to play the role of an anguished and bereft sister in the real life inspired film “No one Killed Jessica. However the biggest hit of career came with the film where she was expected to be big risk portraying the role of a gusty in your face actress based on the life of the controversial southern star Silk Smitha. The film whent on to become a blockbuster and the biggest opening ever for an women oriented film. For perfect characterization of the film the actress gained weight and prepared mentally for the role.
As result of this the film became a brazenness and in-your-face sexuality hit with the audiences. This film also saw her bag the national and her third consecutive star screen award. In March 2012, Balan featured as Vidya Bagchi, a pregnant woman in search of her missing husband in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani. The thriller, set in the city of Kolkata during the Durga Puja festivities earned Balan further accolades from film critics.
Vidya Balan Upcoming film- As per latest film commitments, Balan has been signed on for Raj Kumar Gupta's Ghanchakkar alongside Emraan Hashmi and Saket Chaudhary's Shaadi Ke Side Effects alongside Farhan Akhtar.
Vidya Balan Personal Life- Vidya Balan has always been low key about her personal life. For instance the actress studied and performed in Prithvi Theaters' workshops before her initial film with. She also trained in Carnatic dance but opted out because of the the Sunday morning classes. She is also a very spiritual person and is an ardent devout Bhagwan Shri Sai Baba; she makes it a point to attend Mandirs every Thursday. She is proficient in six languages mainly Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, English, Hindu and can also read a Urdu. She has refrained from any caustic comments made against her by critics about her personal love life, her and her facts whatsoever. In May 2012, in an interview she admitted dating Siddharth Roy Kappor CEO of UTV Pictures. She stays with her parents at her residence in Khar.

Vidya Balan Controversies- Vidya Balan has stayed away from any instance of controversy. She has maintained a cordial relation with both male and female colleagues. However the Dirty Picture was the only instance of a controversy in her career so far. The petitioners filed a case under Indian Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986 for her posters of the film.
Vidya Balan Car- One of her most priced and personal possession that she has is her 2009 Mercedes Benz E350.

Vidya Balan recently revealed that her role as a homemaker on the movie Ghanchakkar would see give a new dimension and dispel the notion about housewife’s. The actress of the past few movies has played a diverse length roles and this one seems to be special and different. Said to be the 2006 sequel of the film “Pyare ke side effects” with Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat, the film starcast is certainly ubeat about this new project. As far as attempts to give prominence to a role, the actress with a range of characterization has proved it consistently at the box office.
