Prithviraj Chavan is certainly one of the most respected names in politics. While many state him to be a true loyalist, it is his integrity, hardwork and image as a technocrat that made him choice. He took charge of a one of the strongest holds of power but also one of the most critical of all. In a bid to establish professionalism he has infused a keen sense of political engineering to manage the fractured coalition government and sustain the vaulting ambitions of his partymen. Particularly keeping in mind that the Chief Minster’s chair and its past chronology. Moreover throughout his career he had portrayed and continues to do so as a fighting leader.
Prithviraj Chavan Early Career- He was born to politician Anandrao alias Dajisaheb Chavan Premalakaki Chavan. His father was a member from the Loksabha Constituency of Karad and served in the cabinets of Prime Minister’s Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadhur Shastri and Indira Gandhi. Following his father’s demise his mother contested for the seat and won in consecutive terms before her death in 1991. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani and holds a degree in Masters of Science from the University of California.
Prithviraj political Career- He started his political Career in 1991 following the death of his mother and in the seat that she held till he death. He won the seat for three consecutive terms in 1991, 1996, 1998. However he lost the seat in 1999. After this he assumed the Ministry of state in charge of the department of Atomic Energy. After which he served as the Minister of State for various ministries like the Ministry of Science and technology, Ministry of Personnel, public Grievances and Pensions and Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs before assuming charge as Minister of State in charge of the PM office.
His untarnished image and vision as a technocrat made him one of the preference for the seat of CM vacated by Ashok Chavan following the revelation of the Adarsh Scam. As a chief Minister he has been instrumental in getting the environmentally clearances for the Navi Mumbai International Airport. He was instrumental in fostering establishment of Jaitapur Power Project through direct counseling of citizens and concerned individuals. He has announced constructive reforms in secondary and technical education. He is also instrumental for providing scholarships for research at the University level. He also admonished the Builder lobby that is active in Mumbai and Pune.
Prithviraj Chavan Personal life- Prithviraj Chavan is married to Satvasheela and they have a daughter Ankita and a son Jai. His other interests include reading, and he loves playing Golf Chess and table tennis, badminton and is also a self professed cricket fan.

His name has also sprung up in the S Band Controversy and has also been named in the matter. In his stinct in the PMO office he was also accused of hiding information from the Prime Minster. They have also been media reports that have linked him to the Thomas controversy. There was also another controversy wherein the minster acquired a 40 lakh flat in mere 4 lakhs and this was just a day after he was sworn in PM.

Prithviraj Chavan criticsed the BJP stating that they were solely for creating doubts in the mind of people. He stated that the congress will make every possible efforts to dispel the understanding posed by the BJP against FDI. He stated on record that Foreign investment was necessary for pushing mega infraprojects too.
