Katrina Kaif is certainly one of the most sorts after actresses in industry. She does have the looks the persona and is filled with talent that is backed by insatiable dedication to perfect her roles and assignments. This has made her a crowd puller irrespective of the fact whether she essays a full length role in the movie or a special; appearance.

Katrina Kaif Early Life- Katrina was born on 16th July, 1984 in Hongkong to Kashmiri father and English mother Susanne Turquotte. However her parents separated when she was young. As a child and through her years Katrina travelled with her family around the world and from Hongkong to China then Japan. At the age of 8 she lived for a few months apart in Switzerland, Poland, Germany, Belgium and other European countries. Then her family moved on to Hawaii and then finally to England. While many assert that she has being primarily from London and lived most of her life there. The reality is that she lived there only for the three years before she finally made her home in Mumbai.

Katrina Kaif Film career- Before Katrina Kaif took her plunge in acting in films she was a model and started her career at the young age of 14 modeling for a jewellery brand. She continued modeling in London and was part of several advertisement campaigns. She also walked the ramp for the London Fashion Week. It was here that Kaizad Gustaad casted her for his role in the movie Boom (2003). The film sank at the box office and Katrina stated that she felt it was a wrong choice of doing the movie at the time. In 2004 she essayed the part of princess Malleshwari in the Telegu movie and followed it with Allari Pidugu.

It was however in 2005 that was the turning point in her film career. In that year she starred in cameo in Ramgopal Varma’s Sarkar and then Maine Pyaar Kyon Kiya (2005), where she was paired opposite Salman Khan. She co-starred with Akshay Kumar in Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, in 2006; the movie flopped but her pairing with Kumar became a super hit Jodi. In 2006the actress also acted in Malayalam movies Balram V/s Tharadas long side superstar Mammotty that did considerably well. 2007 was marked with a string of successful films that included the likes of Namastey London with Akshay Kumar, Apne with the Deols, David Dhawan’s Partner and Welcome, all of which performed well at the box office. She followed the good  runs in 2008 as well with Race and Sinngh is Kinng.

The following year 2009 as well Katrina did well both her films New York at the starting of the years and Ajab Prem Ke Gajab Kahani and De Dana Dan that were both hits at the box office. The first film of 2012 Rajneeti was a challenged as far as the actress was concerned. She worked hard in the movie to perfect her diction as she essayed the role of a political leader and the efforts paid off. Her performance was critically acclaimed and the film raked collections at the box office. Her next Film Tees Maar Khan fell below expectation but her dance number Sheila Ka Jawani was a hit.

Her films in 2011, Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Yash Raj Films’ Mere Brother Ki Dulhan both failed at the box office. Her latest film Eek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan is a blockbuster hit and is highest grossing film of the year. She joined the Kareena Kapoor as the second actresses to be involved in one of the highest grossing films in recent times.

Katrina Kaif Upcoming Movies- Katrina Kaif upcoming movies include Jab tak Hai Jaan that is slated for release on the 14th November, 2012. The film starts Shah Rukh Khan and Anushkha Sharma and is the last directorial venture of Yash Chopra.  Her next movie after this is Dhoom 3 starring Aamir Khan. She is also said to star in Siddharth Anand next directorial venture that is said to begin shooting by the year end. With Dhoom Katrina would become the third actress apart from Kareena to star with all three Khans.

Katrina Personal Life- She now resides in Mumbai while her family stays in London. Kaif is known for her faith and religious beliefs. She has visited religious places of worship like the Siddhivinayak temple, Hindu temple at Haridwar Shirdi, the Golden Temple at Amritsar and also the Ajmer Sharif Dargah. However she continues to keep observance of her religion of birth. She has been linked Salman Khan. However the two denied all the long the actors concluded that they just good friends all the long.

•On her preference in Films – “It's not my style to either wear minimum clothes, to strip or to even be comfortable with a sex-symbol label. I just want to do good work instead of sporting such meaningless tags. Sex sells, but to a small extent, not always. And this is what filmmakers have to accept. The exposure has to be relevant to the film and its characters and not forced for the sake of titillation. On the contrary, some of the greatest Indian films have been devoid of all these sexual trappings. I know my comfort zone in today's Indian culture and society.”
•On her acceptance in Bollywood- “"I have no complaints. I think I'm especially lucky. As you said, I've come from outside and I'm not even anywhere closely connected. But I have absolutely no problem here. People have been more than welcoming, even before I was ready. There was a time when I felt that I need to take time to understand more about the industry, the workings of it. I was doing my modeling, which I really wanted to do at the time. So that's why even my entry into films was later than people expected.”
•On  her relaxation mantra- “ unwind myself by taking off the costume and make-up as soon as the shoot is over! And get a spa treatment. It is extremely relaxing. Unfortunately, the kind of lifestyle and schedule we have, we hardly get time. Not only actors, but I have seen a lot of directors and journalists with skin problems and believe me, all that can be cured by a spa treatment.”
•On her relationship with Salman Khan- “My relationship with Salman Khan is too personal to talk about. I take my work like any other regular job and what I do in my personal life is no one's business. I'd rather let my work do all the talking.”

Katrina Kaif Controversies- Katrina Kaif has tried but has not be free as far as controversy is concerned. Her first Film itself was controversial and was banned as the film contained explicit scenes and was shelved by CBFC. She also invited controversy when she wore a short skirt while visiting the Dargah. The actress is also known to share cold vibes with actresses that include Bipasha Basu and most recently Anushkha Sharma.

 The upcoming film Jab Tak hai Jaan soundtrack has been relased this week.  This is Katrina first film with Shah Rukh Khan and this is one of the last directorial venture of the  Yash Chopra.
