Anand Mahindra Early Life- Before understanding the early life of the businessman it is important to know a little bit about his family background. KC Mahindra the founder of the Mahindra Group has three daughters. However it was only his second daughter Indira the mother of Anand who showed a keen interest in the family business. Anand Mahindra was born on the 1st of May, 1955 in Mumbai. In 1977 he pursued a degree from the Harward College Cambridge Massachusetts. He also completed his MBA from Harward Business School in Boston in 1981.
Anand Mahindra Business career- Mahindra returned to India in 1981 and joined Mahindra Ugine Steel Company (MUSCO) as Executive Assistant to the Finance Director. By his efforts and ardent dedication he graduated towards the top ranks of the company. In 1989 he assumed the post of President and Deputy Managing director of the company. Holding this key portfolio he initiated the diversification of the company and focused on sectors of real estate development and hospitality. The company till then was engaged in vehicles . His efforts and endeavor bore fruit and he was appointed the Managing Director of Mahindra and Mahindra within just two years. He continued working towards the diversification and as well as sustaining the other major sectors of the company. In 1997 he was made the Managing Director of the company and in 2003 was made the Vice Chairman. Mahindra was the co-promoter of Kotak Mahindra Finance Limited which was converted to a banking institution in 2003. Kotak Mahindra is one of the foremost private sector banks. The characteristic feature of Anand Mahindra’s style of management has been his keen ability counter obstacles and set global ambitions and standards for the company. The company has also grown through a series of acquisition and green field business ventures. The major acquisitions the company has made the recent years include that of Scorpio 2002, Satyam Computer Services in 2009, Reva Electrics 2010, and Ssangyong Motor Company 2010.The launch of Scorpio was a major boost to the company. The first acquisition was a challenge for the company as he was forced to contend with various problems faced by the Scorpio. However the ambitious Scorpio SUV project paid off and he positioned it as a firm competitor in the Indian market. Today the company enjoys a key position in almost all sectors of the economy utility vehicles, information technology, tractors, and vacation ownership. Its growing presence can be felt in real estate development, aerospace, retail, defense, energy, financial services, logistics and many more. The company is also present in as many as 100 companies around the world.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kamal R Nath and businessmen Anand Mahindra featured in the list of business and policy makers in Asia who were awarded with the business Award.Businessmen and leaders from UAE,Oman, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia attended Asian Leadership Forum Awards where 17 outsatanding individuals from the field of business industry, infrastructure and energy were feted.
