Tourism Ministry allocated budget of Rs 1297.66 crore

The Tourism ministry was allocated a budget of Rs 1297.66 crore for quarter 2013-14. This amount was allocated by the union for the construction of budget hotels, amenities, tourist reception centers, maintenance of monuments, special tourism projects and also for adventure and other sports facilities which are growing in interest in the Indian subcontinent. The Tourism department got a boost of Rs 87.66 crore from the Union Budget 2013.

This yearly budgetary allocation is also the highest in comparison to previous years. In 2012-13 the allocation stood at Rs 1,210 crore while in 2011-12 the allocation was Rs 1110.96 crore. The budgetary was also granted for the various projects and schemes for the benefit of North East Region and in particular the state of Sikkim has also been hiked from Rs 121 crore to Rs 129 crore.
 
The allocation of funds is also aimed for various additions to tourist infrastructure that include entertainment light and sound shows, illumination of monuments, improvement in solid waste management, sewerage management, procurement of equipments and also for various other tourism and rural tourism projects initiated by the union and state department.
