Sachin Tendulkar announces retirement from test cricket

It is the end of an era, the end of the golden age of cricket as Sachin Tendulkar announces retirement from test cricket. The batting maestro conveyed the message of his retirement to BCCI President and requested the board to release a media statement on his behalf. Sachin stated that his greatest dream was play for the country and his 24 years in professional cricket gave him a chance to live this dream. The Master blaster also stated that he was looking forward to play his 200th test match on home soil after which he would retire from the test format. Sachin announced his retirement from the ODI format in December last year.

He also reiterated that it would be hard for him to think of a life outside cricket. The Indian team senior pro took up cricket at the age of 11 and made his debut for the national team at the age of 16. Tendulkar will play his last test against West Indies in the test series scheduled to be held in the month of November.

The maestro also thanked the BCCI for the support extended towards him during his career. He also expressed his gratitude to his family who supported him all the while with patience and understanding. Sachin did not forget to thank his well wishers and fans whose prayers and wishes he said , gave him the strength to perform well each and every time.

One thing is for sure post Sachin’s 200 test, Indian cricket and world cricket would not be the same again.
