MTDC to plan open air plaza for Mumbai
Mumbai is all set to get its first urban market with an open air plaza modeled on the lines of Delhi’s Delhi Haat. The Maharashtra Tourism Department Corporation is all set to plan an open air plaza for Mumbai. For this the MTDC has indentified a location near the Mahalaxmi Race Course and has also submitted its proposal to the BMC for its final clearance on the matter. The project is aimed at bridging a confluence of arts, crafts and cuisine together from all over the country as well as the state of Maharashtra. Speaking of the same Dr Jagdish Patil Managing director of MTDC stated, the theme of Mumbai’s open air plaza will be similar to that of Dilli Haat. This will serve as an attraction not only for tourists but also for residents alike. He confirmed the news that the place has been identified and the discussion with the BMC is on and the final nod of the municipal body is awaited in the matter.
