LK Advani resigns from all positions in BJP
A day after Narendra Modi was given the mantle of spearheading the party for the upcoming general election BJP party patriarch and founding leader LK Advani announced his resignations from all party positions- national executive, parliamentary board and election committee.

In his resignation letter addressed to the BJP President Rajnath Singh, he said that he did not have the feeling that the party had the same ideology that was infused by its founders Shyama Prasad Mookerji, Deendayal Upadhyay and A.B. Vajpayee. He also further stated that the present leadership in the BJP was more interested with personal agenda.

Advani’s absence at the party’s executive meet in Goa over the weekend already grabbed sufficient headlines and news reels. On Sunday the BJP top brass nominated Narendra Modi as leader of the election committee for the 2014 general election. While the top brass leadership tried to downplay the leaders absence at the meeting to ill health, members of the government called the move as a clear snub to the senior leader who played an instrumental role in the party.

However Advani’s contribution as a leader can in no ways be downplayed.  Apart  from taking the BJP out of the long standing shadow and benevolence of Atal Bihari Vajpayee LK also offered a say to political cadres in terms of crucial Sangh Parivar decisions the leader also was the first leader in the party to invest faith in Modi’s leadership capabilities. As LK Advani resigns from all party positions in the BJP the golden Vajpayee- Advani era comes to an end.
