DGCA to Kingfisher: Clear all dues before license renewal

The Directorate of General and Civil Aviation made its point cleared that it wanted grounded airliner to pay all dues including pending salaries before applying for renewal of flying license. In a statement the DGCA had been continually promising the payment of wages in the last six months but has not done so till date.

The airliners Air Operators permit is not only linked with outstanding salaries of staff but also the massive dues it owns both to its vendors and lessors. The central authority affirmed that there would be no acceptance of airliners proposal until a credible revival plan is put forward. Last week Sanjay Agarwal CEO of Kingfisher Airliner met the DGCA to a bid to renew its AOP.

The private airliner that was grounded in October last year lost its flying license in December 2012 though it has a two year window period to get it renewed. The meeting between the airliner and the DGCA came admits reports that the airliner was planning to sell domestic slots and international flying rights to another Indian airliner. The CEO also stated that group was awaiting the proceeds of its deal with UK firm Diaego. The Group has sold 53.4 per cent stake in United Spirits to Diageo for about USD two billion.

He also requested the government to keep aside some of the slots, including those at Mumbai and Delhi airports, of KFA so that they can be used once the airline resumes flights.
