Coal scam: If there is conspiracy, all are involved
New Delhi- In what can be described as a major happening in the coal scam, former secretary PC. Parekh said that if there was ever any conspiracy in the allocation of coal blocks in 2005 then the prime minister who headed the coal ministry then was equally involved. PC Parekh further stated that it was Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who decided the allocation of two coal blocks in the state of Orissa over which the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filled FIR’s.
Parekh’s comments come a day after the CBI filed FIR’s against Parekh and industrialist Kumar Managalam Birla for alleged irregularities and criminal conspiracy. He said that the case was not a serious issue. He said that it was a fair and correct decision which he had proposed and the prime minister had approved. Mr Parekh questioned that if the central agency saw conspiracy then who is behind the conspiracy? “It is me or Kumar Mangalam Birla who made the recommendation or the PM who ordered for the allocation responsible for conspiracy.”
He went to say that if there was ever a conspiracy then the prime minister who headed the panel was equally involved. "I don't know why the CBI thinks Birla and I are in a conspiracy, but the person who took a decision is not a part of (the) conspiracy. If a conspiracy is there, everyone is part of the conspiracy. If we are accused, PM is as much a part of the conspiracy," Parekh told reporters.
