Civil Aviation Minister: Air India must perform or perish

Civil Aviation Minister stated that the government would not privatize Air India Limited and it either had the option to perform or perish. In an interview to a leading news channel minister Ajit Singh that the government was committed towards the cause of restructuring the carrier’s long terms debt. 

 

He stated “"The airline cannot be complacent as there are a lot of new airlines that are coming in. Both the management and employees of Air India must perform or perish."

 

He further added "The airline will have to make itself profitable or a subsequent government will have to explore at privatising...This government is not privatising Air India, but no government can keep infusing money. Even now, the government is finding it difficult to meet its financial obligations because of the fiscal deficit."
