Blackberry India MD quitsBlackberry India MD quits at a time when the company is looking out for a new sales lead. On Friday, Blackberry earlier known as Research in Motion (RIM) confirmed managing director Sunil Dutt’s resignation from the company. Dutt who presided over the launch of the new Blackberry Z10 smart phone has resigned with immediate effect. The spokesperson for the company said that Rick Constazo, executive vice president would oversee the responsibilities of the company till the next leader is selected. Stressing on the importance of the Indian market the spokesperson said that the company was keen on building the momentum it received with the launch of the new Blackberry 10. Blackberry Chief Executive Thorsten Heins expressed his shock and stated that news comes at very crucial time for the company. He also stated that entire stock of Blackberry Z10 sold out in just two days of its launch in India. Though the company’s new product the Blackberry Z10 has been reporting strong sales all over, the company is still on the decline in the Indian market. A recent market share of 4.7 percent has pitted the company at fourth place behind Nokia, Samsung and Micromax. BB's revenue in the market has also fallen to 25 percent from Rs 1,950 crore in 2011 to Rs 1,460 crore in 2012.
