Aurangzeb Movie Review
•Cast- Arjun Kapoor, Prithviraj, Rishi Kapoor, Sasha Agha, Amrita Singh, Jackie Shroff, Tanvi Azmi, Sikander Kher, Deepti Naval and Anupam Kher.
•Director- Atul Sabharwhal
•Synopsis- A film with many sub plots and loose end but backed by a strong ensemble cast.
•Rating- **1/2
Aurangzeb is a thoughtful but at the same time tight political drama that revolves around the nexus between cops and the real estate mafia in Gurgaon. The film can also be looked at as game of cat and mouse that is constantly being played by Yashwardhan Singh (Jackie Shroff) and cops Rishi Kapoor and Prithviraj.
Arjun Kappor plays a double role of twin brothers Vishal and Ajay who lead different lives. The police kidnap one of the twins in order to expose Yashwardhan and plants the other in his place. This film is undoubtedly one of the few in recent times that has been successful in engaging audiences with dramatic twists and turns. However the greys of the film include the subplot that is the supporting side to the main story that is at times complicated with loose ends. The film does to a certain extent lag in the second half but the performance of the cast with twists and turns drives home the plot.
The ensemble casts starting from debutante Sasha to heavy weights Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Amrita Singh play out their roles well. Arjun Kapoor delivers a top notch performance.
Final Word- Watch this film for its dramatic twist and turns and the ensemble cast.
