Established in the year 1961, Rabindra Bharti Museum of Kolkata is popularly known as 'Jorashanko Thakurbari' which is the home of Rabindranath Tagore. It is near Girish Park on Chittaranjan Avenue. It was constructed in the 18th century by Prince Dwarkanath Tagore.The musuem has a profound collection of books, original paintings, mauscripts, photographs, etc. which belonged to the leading personalities of the 19th century such as Iswar Chanda Vidyasagar and Dwarkanath Tagore. Visitors can also enjoy the light and sound show, which usually depicts the story of arrival of the Tagores to this house, their remarkable role in Bengal Renaissance and moreover the eventful life of the Poet. All this reasons makes this musuem a worth visiting place if you are in kolkata. The musuem is closed on Sundays, goverment and university holidays and it is opened on Monday to Friday between 10am to 5pm.
