The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts are an Indian luxury hospitality group founded in 1986. Currently The Leela, as it is commonly referred to, is a group of seven luxury palaces and hotels, located in Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, Kovalam, Gurgaon, Udaipur and New Delhi. The group has plans to open new hotels in Chennai (2012 - September) and later in Coimbatore and Agra, Lake Ashtamudi (Kollam, Kerala) and Jaipur. The company has marketing alliances with US-based Preferred Hotels and Resorts and is member of Global Hotel Alliance, based in Geneva, Switzerland. As of March 31, 2012, its subsidiaries include Leela Palaces and Resorts Limited and Leela Realty Limited. During fiscal 2012, it purchased about 4.21 acres of land in Pune and 3.85 acres of land in Hyderabad.
