Gontermann Peippers (India) (GPI) was incorporated in 1966. The company is a manufacturer of iron and steel base rolls and is currently the largest exporter of rolls from India. It has taken up an expansion-cum-diversification project which has increased the installed capacity of cast iron and steel rolls from 8000 TPA to 12,000 TPA. The company has diversified into textile and manufactures cotton and blended yarn. The Textile Division of the Company has been accredited with ISO 9002 Certification by Bureau of Indian Standards. The company has also won many awards since its inception; some of them are Distinguished Award for 2003, 2006, etc. During the year ended March of 2012, sales at Gontermann-Peipers (India) Limited were INR 1.24 billion (US$22.84 million).
